Translation FAQ's
No-one in the office speaks <language>. How can I trust you?
We rank amongst the top translation companies in New Zealand and like
our reputable competitors are fully aware of the not so reputable
companies out there.
We are happy to provide samples of our work, references and details of
our translators' CV's. Through our extensive links with community
groups we are happy to put you in contact with non-translators who can
check that our completed work reads well.
Bear in mind that we also have had to convince various government
departments of our quality systems to gain approvals as well as our
liability insurers.
I need a translation of 25000 words within 3 days - can you do
this?
Yes, our standard working time time is 3 to 5 working days for
translations up to 7500 words with an additional 2500 words per day.
However, we can translate faster than this by passing the job out to
several translators at once. Although we don't recommend this unless
absolutely necessary (as the style of each separate translator's work,
although accurate may differ) it is useful in the case of very urgent
jobs.
A surcharge applies for this service.
Can you translate my document within 4 hours/24 hours?
For smaller documents we can translate to an urgent/shorter timeframe.
Again a surcharge applies for this work.
Why are you so expensive?
We use only professional accredited translators and need to pay the going rate
for their profession. We never use students, non translators or
translators translating into a language other than their native
language. If you find companies offering very cheap translations
ensure that the translations are from a reputable source. Please also
remember that with NTIS New Zealand Translations you are paying for a translation and a separate
proofreading.
Why are you so cheap?
If you have obtained a quote from outside New Zealand you will find
that while New Zealand is a stable first world democracy it does have a lower
cost of living than say United Kingdom or Japan. Rather than taking
advantage of you we pass on our low rates but still make a profit!
If you have obtained a quote from within New Zealand you will find our
prices very competitive due to the fact that we are based outside the
major centres such as Wellington and Auckland. Our running costs here
in the South Island are considerably lower and we do not have flash
inner city offices, huge advertising bills and non-productive executives to pay
for.
For website translations in particular, we are normally able to
undercut our reputable competitors by our in house technology and
expertise. This often enables us to typeset to html at no extra
charge.
For some of the rarer languages we offer where there is a shortage of
skilled translators - such as the Pacific Island and Asian languages
our translators also work for other translation firms in New Zealand so in effect
the difference in price being offered is due to mark up alone.
Do you do translations for New Zealand immigration, NZQA?
Yes, we will advise you
which documents need to be translated. We are one of the few New
Zealand companies accredited by NZQA for translations in all
languages.
I need a Certified Translation. I have already
translated it - Can you just stamp it for me?
For certified translations we need to translate the
document ourselves from scratch. This ensures that we are completely
happy that the translation is correct and we can certify it as a
correct translation of the original. We will never place our stamp on
work which is not our own.
For a certified translation do I need to send the original
document?
Yes, but we can also translate a certified true copy of the original.
I have already translated the document can you just check it?
If you don't require the document to be certified we can proofread it.
Send us the document for a quote and we will advise.
Can I work for you?
Please view our employment pages. We are happy to consider any
application, however please note that most employment we offer is on a
contractual basis and will not help your application for New Zealand
residency or work visas.
As you will have read above - we also have a very strict selection
criteria and verify all applications received.
